Wire wrapped fabric floral bracelet!

I vowed this year would be the year I would try all sorts of new things in crafting.  So far...so good...not as much as I would like, but Ive been able to take a few days away from my usual crafts to explore fabric.

Here's a recent sampling of a whimsical wire covered flower bracelet I made.

It was a lot of fun...and a challenge too considering my sewing machine is a 35 year old Kenmore who gets a little cranky at times.... This is so cute on especially with a plain black tee....

What new creative things will you challenge yourself to this year?

Fusion Illusion class photos from CrafTECH University

I believe CrafTECH University is the first of it's kind. It offers LIVE - Interactive - In real time video driven classes. We literally had students from all over the world, from the East and West Coast of the US to Liverpool England. We were all able to get together is a relaxing aptmosphere, learn and enjoy one another's creativity.

The unique features of this room are that the video pane floats and can be enlarged according to your personal preferences. We can also view up to 6 webcams at any given time.  Detailed close up video allows you to see exactly what the instructor is doing.

And because we have the control to turn on and off webcams- anyone can share - just as if they were sitting right next to you.

This happens to be a photo of one of our students in Liverpool England showing us how she is using the hotwater method to melt her plastic.

At the end of class they were given the assignment to finish their pendants and send me photos.  Look how great they did!  Most of these students had NEVER worked with Friendly Plastic before.

This is Molly F.'s photo

From Lisa R.

 From Dee P.

 And from Pat G.

Quick learners for sure!!! They have definately become Friendly Plastic Addicts!

If you wanted to take this class but missed it - Don't worry - YOU CAN!  That's another great feature of this format is that the class is recorded and you can purchase the recorded version.

Only $12.00 and a link will be provided and send to you via email for you to view as often as you would like.  Start and Stop...watch - rewatch....

There are so many more classes available at CraftTECH University. So check them all out.  Polymer clay - Turquoise, Terrific Textures and more - CLICK HERE

Purchase of the live classes includes the links to view the recorded versions on demand. Interact, Create and have fun!

FUSION ILLUSION - RECORDED CLASS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE

We're happy to say that the recording of today's class is available online.  So - if you weren't able to make it, want to see how our format to see how it works, well, here is your chance.

With the recorded version, you can start and stop at leisure and view it on demand.  The down side is that you can not 'undock' the instructors video panel meaning that "one size of video" is all you get.  Also, this format is not live and no other support is given.

To view the video, simply go to the "view" menu at the upper left corner of the screen.  Drop down to video and you will notice that the instructor video panel will appear.  You can actually turn off all the other panels to make viewing more enjoyable.

Recorded version of this class is only $12.00 and I can tell you there is a wealth of information packed into this hour and a half presentation.

A link to the access the recorded video will be sent to you via your email.

Enjoy!

THINK PINK! - Pom clubs and other stuff

So last week was polymer clay week...and I loved getting all those entries!  This weeks theme...I believe is going to be "PINK"!  So send me anything that oozes pink!

In line with that, the POM club project this month will also be featuring pink.  I won't reveal the character, but I will reveal that the inspiration for the character is the BREAST CANCER AWARENESS pink ribbon.  Yesterday, I met up with Mariah's school nurse, who is just recovering from a blast of chemo and finishing up radiation treatments.  My mother has also been diagnosed with breast cancer in the past couple of years.  That's when it hit me again, that breast cancer or cancer for that fact is an incidious disease and takes it's toll on far tooo many great people.  Yes I know this is not Breast Cancer Awareness Month...but why does there have to be a month?...unfortunately women are diagnosed everyday....

So...this months feature will be a pink ribbon..."suprize"....to celebrate all the lives that have been lost, all the lives that are fighting and all the battles with cancer that have been won!

So...please share your PINK...especially Breast Cancer pink related craft items and if you care...a story to go along with it about your inspiration.

Featuring the Claywork of Helen Dorn

Facebook is a great way to meet new friends of common interest.  Each week, I attend Cool2Craft Live where I met Helen Dorn.  We "friended" each other and last week I had a chance to chat with her.  I can tell you there is a load of talented artists on Facebook and Helen is among them.  Her clay characters have such a charm factor to them that makes them hard to resist!

Helen Terlalis Dorn has been a polymer clay artist since 1990 when she did her first local show in Charleston, SC and sold out before the show officially started!!  Helen relates that her "clay idols" - Shelly Comisky and myself were an inspiration to her from the very beginning. She has been featured on morning television news shows in Roanoke and Richmond, VA while participating in large convention shows up north.  She now lives in Viera, FL and continues to do shows there in sunny paradise.

It's no surprize to me that her clay figures are a HOT commodity...and that she sold out BEFORE the show! I am truely honored to be an inspiration to her!
Please visit her whimsical world at www.claybabiesinc.com

It's Cool2Craft Monday

I get more an more excited when I see all the great things that are happening online with the world of crafting. I sooo miss the days of craft tv...I miss Carol Duvall (personally AND the SHOW!)...I miss Aleene's Creative Living, my aunt June was a guest on Aleene's show...I miss everything about the way that Craft TV inspired all of us.

Well...a bunch of us designers have gotten together and said...enuf is enuf! We took it into our own hands and while it is taking a bit of hard work to launch we are seeing the fruits of our labors.

Im on each Monday with exception of a few - on COOL2Craft Live hosted by Aleene's daughter Tiffany Windsor. She's on a quest to gather together 1 MILLION viewers who think it's cool 2 craft! I know she can do it.

Today I featured Jewelry basics and my latest book - Beading in No Time.

Gotta get back to those basics.....as boring as we all may think they are...you can never practice them to much or ever stray away from them because everthing in life will fall apart if you do!

As soon as the archived link is available I will post it. You can go to www.cool2craft.com to watch any of the shows.

I also talked about my latest venture...which is SOOO COOL! LIVE INTERACTIVE WEB CLASSES.  This allows you to take classes from the industries BEST TOP designers right from your own home.  Saves you money...saves us time...We get to meet and talk with you....and you talk back to us....We're all happy - Life is good.

More information click here:  www.crafTECHUniversity.com

Next big question...where to buy Friendly Plasic...well...FRIENDLY PLASTIC MARKETPLACE!  will solve that problem

And last....Next week - I'll be featuring a technique from my How To Make Polymer Clay Beads and Bead Techniques in a segment called PLAY WITH POLYMER CLAY.
